76 years since the death of Ze'ev Jabotinsky
Yesterday at the Jabotinsky Institute in Tel Aviv, the annual lecture commemorating 76 years since the death of Ze'ev Jabotinsky took place. The lecture was given by reserve General Doron Almog. The topic was "The Weaker Links in the Social Chain as a Test of Society in General". Doron spoke about the community of those with special needs that he was instrumental in establishing in the Negev where his own son, Eran, lived until his death at the age of 23. This community, Aleh Negev, evolved into a most unique community center that also treats those who are recuperating from injuries inflicted by car accidents, terrorist actions, IDF soldiers who were wounded in duty. This community will also include a nursing hospital as well. The hope is that this community "Aleh Negev Nachlat Eran" will set an example of how people with special needs should be treated, regarded and respected. Doron quoted Ze'ev Jabotinsky's saying "society has one role only, to assist the afflicted, succor him, and restore him".
