I attended the second annual convention organized by the GOLAN FIELD SCHOOL. This year the convention's topic was about the role of the school's annual field trip within the framework of the educational process of the school. While all the speakers illuminated the educational role of the field trip a special bonus was the presentation about NIRIN'S YOUTH VILLAGE that takes at risk youth through a high school program centered on wilderness therapy. This therapy focuses on strengthening the strengths of the student, not his weaknesses as conventional psychology tends to do. The program is highly successful, since around 97% of the youths enlist in the army and serve in all the normative services. Most earn their matriculation degree (high school diploma). I strongly recommend learning more about NIRIM'S program and the ways we can contribute to its continuing success. Kudos to MIDRESHET HA GOLAN for organizing the conference and producing a most illuminating program.
